Reducing the Effect of Trauma & Other Psychological Stressors

ART therapy is an evidenced-based therapy that utilizes eye movement therapy, matched with Gestalt psychotherapy, to help survivors of trauma overcome intrusive thoughts and persistent negative memories.

Clients’ who receive ART therapy are able to reprogram the way the nervous system responds to present day stress – keeping the memories, but removing the stress response!

ART therapy has also been found to be effective treating the following conditions:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • OCD
  • Addictions/Substance Abuse Disorders
  • PTSD
  • Grief
  • Pain Management
I’m so grateful I gave ART therapy a try.

As a child, I always loved the beach, unfortunately, everything changed after a drowning incident at 7 years old. After being revived, I now had a tremendous fear of going into the water pass my knees, let alone swimming! I always wanted to get over my fear. I attended swimming classes, but it was horrifying, I became terribly disappointed and discouraged to the point that I stopped trying to swim.

However, the urge to learn how to swim came back when I started dating a wonderful man who is now my husband. He loves the water like a fish! He encouraged me to swim even though I felt very safe with him, the fear stopped me from progressing. This was extremely bothersome for me, I loved seeing him enjoy swimming so freely. I wanted to feel that comfortable in the water. So I signed up for swimming lessons again, it wasn’t going well until my therapist suggested an ART Therapy session, that is when I was released from this haunting drowning incident. I felt so empowered to overcome a fear that was so strong. It has given me such a feeling of freedom from something I struggled with for years. Since I’ve learned how to swim, I’ve had the pleasure of swimming in a large river with my husband while vacationing in the Czech Republic, I’ve enjoyed floating in a pond in Italy, but the most importantly, now swimming has become a daily exercise routine for me and my husband at our local pool. I could have never imagined being so comfortable in the water I highly recommend this treatment. It has changed my life forever.

Thank you, Andrew from challenging minds for introducing me to Art Therapy.

Kathleen, ART therapy gave me freedom.
